Information

Season starts Saturday, April 13th, 2013  thru June 1st, 2013

Start time is 11:00am

The schedule will be provided once I have information on the number of teams/players we have.  I strongly encourage you to bring a team.  If you have kids you already coach in another sport sign 'em up and start playing games on April 13th.  If you don't have a team don't worry just register and we will place them on a team.

If your child participated in the Winter Micro program and you would like to be placed on the same team please send me an email so I can verify if that particular coach will be coaching again for Spring.  As of right now I know of 2 coaches returning for Spring (Coach Johnson - 7-8 Ducks and Coach Stewart 7-8 Bandits)

Our coaches are volunteers, often with other children playing another sports, so if you would like to volunteer, have a good attitude, understands this is a kids sports, open for instruction and can be on time to practice and games be sure and let me know. rwashington@abbottsports.com

General Rules:

5 vs 5 ideally with more or less kids we adjust the numbers, there are not any specific rules that we truly enforce. This is an introduction to football so the main focus is to keep their attention, teach good sportsmanship and teamwork. Each child is different

Teach positions, ensure kids are running in the correct direction

General Rules:

Offense -

Flag guarding - warning - then a 5yd penalty

Holding - warning - then 5yd penalty

False Start - warning - then 5yd penalty

No Center sneak

No Quarterback sneak within 10yds of the end zone - will result in 5yd penalty

Defense -

Holding  - warning - 5yd penalty

Illegal use of the hands - warning and most never a penalty unless a kids continues after being explained

Pass Interference - 10yd from the spot of the foul

General Rules: WE HAVE LINEMEN IN THESE AGE GROUPS AND MORE OF A PASSING LEAGUE

This gives linemen a chance to work on footwork, proper use of the hands for tackle football and who doesn't want to 8 vs 8 touch football!

Offense -

Holding - 5yd penalty

False Start - 5yd penalty

No Center sneak

Defense -

Holding  - 5yd penalty

Illegal use of the hands - warning explained - 5yd penalty

Pass Interference - 10yd from the spot of the foul
